The female navy commander who defeated the Dutch army。。。twice!Get ready to meet twenty mighty Muslim heroes who change the world over the centuries with their faith and learnings。 This book has 20 inspirational stories of Muslim heroes from the 7th Century-19th Century。 I was surprised to read about female heroes like Nusayaba bint Ka'ab, a warrior from the 7th century, Queen Zubaida of Baghdad from the 8th century, Malahayati, the first admiral from the 15th century, and many more。 All these women played an important role in shaping the Muslim community。 They all are well educated, and you are surprised to know that one of them even established the first university 1000 years ago。All these stories proved that women can outshine in any field, and these inspiring stories encourage them to follow their dreams。 I already knew about some heroes like Razia Sultan, the first female ruler of Delhi, Ibn Batuta, a great explorer, and Begum Rokeya, an educator who stood up for women's rights and education。I just loved the concept of this book to teach children about history and the great Muslim heroes from the past who put their efforts to make people strong and educated。We need more such books so kids can get to know more about great heroes, history, different cultures, and how they contributed to the world of science, arts, and education。I just loved the concept of this book, so I'm looking forward to reading more about such great people。Perfect for 7+Grab your copy from Amazon。 。。。more

With all the negativity out there surrounding Islam, this book provides its readers with a refreshing positive glimpse back in time to the strong legacies of not only the religion, but the culture of muslims throughout the ages。 It is a book i would recommend for both children and adults alike。

A great book to introduce the little ones to some of our greats。 The who’s who of the glorious islamic history have been show cased。 I couldn’t have been happier; for in a time when the super heroes of the fantasies are taking over, it’s important for the children to have actual, real role models。 I love the the timeline given at the beginning because I’m a visual learner and it’s helped me to effectively remember the chronology in which the heroes arrived。 My son is a big fan of the map (he his A great book to introduce the little ones to some of our greats。 The who’s who of the glorious islamic history have been show cased。 I couldn’t have been happier; for in a time when the super heroes of the fantasies are taking over, it’s important for the children to have actual, real role models。 I love the the timeline given at the beginning because I’m a visual learner and it’s helped me to effectively remember the chronology in which the heroes arrived。 My son is a big fan of the map (he his obsessed with maps at the moment) that helps to show the dpread of Islam! Absolutely in love with this book! It’s aimed at children, but it is a wealth of information for the entire family。。。 There are so many figures in there that I didn’t know about! And what really stands out, is the diversity in the book。。。 we have notable Muslim figures from several countries, not just the predominantly Muslim ones。 Children (and adults!) in this book are exposed to the peak of Muslim heritage and achievements。 I love how Haque has presented the information in a precise manner, y Absolutely in love with this book! I just have to say, I wish I could go back in time and give this book to my younger self, but seeing as I can't, I will proceed to buy a copy for every child under the age of 10 I know。Growing up, the only 'heroes' that I learnt about were white, extremely dead, men, Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei。 And the only books about Muslim scientists, astronomers, travellers and polymaths that I read were geared towards adults and often dry, and just *bleugh*。 Now, as a I just have to say, I wish I could go back in time and give this book to my younger self, but seeing as I can't, I will proceed to buy a copy for every child under the age of 10 I know。Growing up, the only 'heroes' that I learnt about were white, extremely dead, men, Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei。 And the only books about Muslim scientists, astronomers, travellers and polymaths that I read were geared towards adults and often dry, and just *bleugh*。 Now, as a 9-year-old, what did this tell me? *cue fake hard thinking*That the only people who ever achieved anything in life did NOT look like me!So。。。it was so amazing and heartening to see a well-written, beautifully illustrated (and non-shady) book actually aimed at young children, not adults!!!It's definitely a must-buy for any school or library that's looking towards actually having a non-Eurocentric curriculum, and having a resource amongst their collection that can actually make young Muslims PROUD OF THEMSELVES AND THEIR HISTORY WHOO, imagine that! Everyone should honestly give this book a read, it is super important that these Muslim people (including my namesake) who have previously been wiped off the pages of history simply because they're not white get the credit for their amazing contributions to society。 Anyways, bottom line, GO READ IT AND SUPPORT THIS AUTHOR SO SHE CAN WRITE MORE AMAZING BOOKS, NOW!(thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review, this in no way influences my feelings about the book) 。。。more

Though this book is meant for children, I, a 30 year old mum absolutely loved reading it。 My daughter is too young for it now but I am so excited and looking forward to adding this to her book collection。 I was pleasantly surprised to know there were so many inspiring Muslim heroes, not only men but women too。 I had only heard of Bilal previously。 Thanks to this book, these heroes will be celebrated again as they should。 I found myself in awe of every single story, made me realize how brave, cou Though this book is meant for children, I, a 30 year old mum absolutely loved reading it。 My daughter is too young for it now but I am so excited and looking forward to adding this to her book collection。 I was pleasantly surprised to know there were so many inspiring Muslim heroes, not only men but women too。 I had only heard of Bilal previously。 Thanks to this book, these heroes will be celebrated again as they should。 I found myself in awe of every single story, made me realize how brave, courageous and outstanding these heroes were for their time。 I encourage everyone, Muslim or non Muslim to give this book a read。 It brings about the kind of positivity we need in this world right now。 It is important us Muslims get credit for who we are and what we stand for。 Lastly, the illustrations really brought the book to life, they beautifully captured the essence of the stories。 A lovely nice and vibrant book。 A big kudos to the author and her team。 Congratulations and thank you for putting together this gem。 。。。more

This colourfully illustrated, well-written collection of 20 Muslim heroes from Islamic history is a great addition to any bookshelf or library! Aimed at a Muslim demographic, especially to encourage young Muslims to feel confident and empowered in their history, this book is still valuable for school or public libraries。 In fact, it's the perfect contribution to anyone seeking to have a diverse collection of books and to expand on non-Eurocentric history。 Covering individuals such as Sahabah like Nusaybah bint Ka'b, Rufaidah al-Aslamiyyah, and Bilal ibn Rabah; notable scientists such as Al-Khawarizmi and Ibn Sina; and many amazing female figures such as Razia Sultan, Fatimah al-Fihriyyah, Queen Zubaidah, Lubna of Cordoba, and Began Rokeya, this book provides a wonderful synopsis of many Muslim figures from diverse backgrounds - and who are often unknown。 As someone who considers herself generally familiar with historical figures from Islamic history, I was incredibly excited to learn more about individuals whom I had either never heard of before or only vaguely knew of。 The writing is suitable for middle grade, but is enjoyable for pretty much everyone! I highly recommend this book and look forward to receiving a hardcopy for my own Islamic school's community library。 。。。more
